Your denture journey

What to Expect, Step by Step

Getting dentures is easier than most people think. Here's exactly how it works at American Dental Center — starting with one phone call.

7 steps

From first call to final fit

  1. Step 1

    Call to check your insurance

Call (305) 625-5400 with your insurance card. We contact your plan and explain your denture coverage in plain language before anything else happens.

  2. Step 2

    Your first visit

Dr. Forman examines your mouth, takes digital x-rays and listens to what matters most to you. You'll leave with a clear plan and timeline.

  3. Step 3

    Preparing your mouth

If any teeth need to be removed, we take care of that gently and give your gums time to heal. Ask about immediate dentures so you're never without teeth.

  4. Step 4

    Impressions & bite records

We take precise impressions and measurements of your bite so your dentures are shaped to fit your mouth comfortably.

  5. Step 5

    Try-in appointment

You preview your new teeth before they're finalized. We check the look, shade and bite together and make changes until you're happy.

  6. Step 6

    Delivery day

Your finished dentures are fitted and adjusted. We show you how to put them in, take them out and care for them at home.

  7. Step 7

    Adjustments & follow-up

Sore spots are normal at first. We see you for follow-up visits to fine-tune the fit until your dentures feel like your own.

How long does it take?

Most patients have their dentures within a few weeks

Your timeline depends on whether any teeth need to be removed and how quickly your gums heal. Dr. Forman will give you a personal timeline at your first visit, so you always know what's next.

Tips for your first weeks

  • Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, chewing on both sides at once.
  • Read aloud for a few minutes a day — speech adjusts quickly with practice.
  • Take dentures out at night to let your gums rest, and keep them in water.
  • Brush your dentures daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner (not toothpaste).
  • Call us if a sore spot lasts more than a couple of days — a quick adjustment helps.
